Our Sustainability Initiative
My wife and I are wilderness hikers and we have been fortunate to trek in many remarkable places around the world. These areas are always pristine with spectacular beauty, but regardless of how remote we get, I am always amazed to find plastic waste, even in areas considered “inaccessible”.
Plastic was invented over 100 years ago. Given its versatility, it quickly became a material which would be used with many different products in a wide range of industries. Today, it can be found in quite a few of the everyday items we all use. This has led to the growth of single-use items, and of course, a lot of waste. Canadians throw away over 3 million tonnes of plastic waste every year. As some of this waste ultimately finds its way into our natural environment, we have an opportunity to tackle the challenge of plastic pollution.
At BIOS, we’re committed to doing our part. We’ve implemented a plan to offer fully sustainable consumer packaging for each of our 2,000+ items throughout our BIOS brands. This is a very big undertaking, but we’re making significant strides every day. Look for these logos on the products which have already met our ‘100% sustainable’ goal.
